Lessons in Falling

Lessons in Falling is part of a series of choreographed performances using guided Feldenkrais movement therapy techniques. The Feldenkrais Method is a specialized collection of therapeutic routines designed to realign the skeleton, integrate physical motion, and train the body to maximize its movements. The actions are slow and subtle, but the intention is to create fundamental change. In this performance, each dancer was given an individual routine, which they are privately listening to. All of the choreographed routines explore the physical and symbolic actions of falling, which, according to Feldenkrais methodology, rolling over is the smallest fall our bodies can make.

Performed at the Atlanta Ballet Center for Dance Chance Atlanta on June 7th, 2014. Using modified Feldenkrais routines, this performance explores the physical and symbolic actions of falling. According to the Feldenkrais practice, rolling over is the smallest fall our bodies can make.
